This is a gorgeous instrument, perfect for anyone looking for an older step-up instrument without breaking the bank. This is a nicely aged Hans Schuster with fine European woods. We purchased it from a violist in the local symphony, whose mother bought it for her brand new in the late '60s/early '70s. Up until about a month ago, this instrument was played on a regular basis for its entire life. It has a very nice broken-in feel and sound that will only get better with age.
There is some normal wear and tear and weather checking in the lacquer, and there was a crack under the chinrest that has been professionally repaired. Other than that, this instrument has been well-loved and taken care of!
This viola is currently set up with Dominant strings, a Wittner tailpiece w/ integrated adjusters, and an ebony Guarneri-style chin rest.
